RSR PlayStation button mapping — Thrustmaster emulation

This guide explains the RSR’s default PlayStation mapping when using Thrustmaster Ferrari F1 wheel emulation. Find a control on the diagrams to see which input it sends to the console.

Your RSR control → Emulated Thrustmaster F1 wheel input → Action assigned by your game

For example, the top button on the left sends L1. The game decides what L1 does. A sticker such as FLASH or RADIO is a physical label; it does not change the input sent to PlayStation.

You can change the mapping. Any function available through the emulated Thrustmaster F1 wheel can be assigned to any RSR button. You can also assign the same function to two or more buttons. Both then send the same input; this does not create extra independent inputs or unlock functions the Thrustmaster F1 wheel does not provide.

1. Buttons and paddles

Left and right are shown from the driver’s seat. Buttons are numbered from the outer top button down each side.

Default RSR face buttons and paddles mapped to PlayStation inputs. Full mapping follows in the table.
Open full-size diagram
Position, top to bottom Left-side button sends Right-side button sends
1 L1 R1
2 L2 R2
3 Triangle Triangle
4 Options Square
5 Share Circle
6 PS Cross (X)
Paddle position Default input
Left upper shifter L1
Right upper shifter R1
Left lower paddle, if fitted L1
Right lower paddle, if fitted R1

The paddle entries describe the button mapping shown in the default configuration. Follow the console manual for paddle calibration and clutch setup.

2. Thumb and front rotaries

Each turn direction has its own assignment. Clockwise and anticlockwise are viewed from the face of the individual knob. The letters below identify positions, not PlayStation button names.

Eight RSR rotaries identified A to H with clockwise and anticlockwise default inputs. Full mapping follows in the table.

Diagram / control Clockwise ↻ Anticlockwise ↺
A — Upper-left thumb rotary Up Down
B — Inner-left thumb rotary Up Down
C — Upper-right thumb rotary Right Left
D — Inner-right thumb rotary Right Left
E — Upper-left front rotary (MAP) R2 L2
F — Lower-left front rotary (BIAS) Up Down
G — Upper-right front rotary (ABS) R3 L3
H — Lower-right front rotary (TC) R3 L3

Up, Down, Left and Right refer to D-pad directions. Both right-hand thumb rotaries send Right clockwise and Left anticlockwise in this default Thrustmaster layout.

3. Make the controls work for you

  1. Open the RSR button module’s Wi-Fi configuration interface using the instructions in the console manual.
  2. Select Thrustmaster as the wheelbase and choose an available emulated function for the control you want to change.
  3. Select Save, then test the control in your game. Where supported, use the game’s control settings to choose its action.

Example: one function on two buttons. If you want Cross (X) in two convenient places, assign X to both RSR buttons. Pressing either sends Cross to the console. The two buttons will perform the same game action.

Use Reset buttons to default in the mapping interface to return to the starting layout. Save the configuration after making changes.

4. What emulation can and cannot do

  • The console recognises the RSR as a Thrustmaster Ferrari F1 Wheel Add-On. The available input set is therefore limited to that wheel.
  • The RSR has more physical controls than there are independent emulated inputs. Some default assignments are shared, and you can deliberately share more.
  • Remapping chooses which RSR control sends an available input. It cannot create an additional console input or make a game support an input it does not accept.
  • A control that works in one game may have fewer assignment options in another. Check the game’s wheel and control settings.

This guide applies to RSR Thrustmaster emulation on a PlayStation-compatible T598 with the required MVH Thrustmaster quick-release kit. PlayStation uses the Wi-Fi display. It does not describe PC button numbering, direct-to-PC / MagLink mapping or Xbox compatibility. A PC-only T598 can use MagLink for a VOCORE display; that does not make VOCORE compatible with PlayStation.

5. Original Ferrari F1 wheel: PlayStation equivalents

The table below translates the original wheel’s printed labels using Thrustmaster’s official PS4/PS5 generic mapping diagram. Match the PlayStation input in this table to the RSR diagrams above. The RSR’s layout is different, so match the input name rather than the physical position.

Original Ferrari F1 control PlayStation input
K (upper-left button) L2
PL (upper-right button) R2
Left / right shifter paddles L1 / R1
N Triangle
DRS Circle
PIT Square
10+ Cross (X)
PUMP L3
1− R3
DIF IN thumb control D-pad Left / Right
CHRG thumb control D-pad Up / Down
Lower-left and lower-right D-pads D-pad directions
BO switch Share (PS4) / Create (PS5)
START switch PS
WET switch Options

Example: the original wheel’s K button sends L2. On the default RSR layout, the second left-side face button sends L2, as does an anticlockwise turn of the upper-left front rotary. The mapping interface calls the Share/Create input Share.

The original wheel’s PC Advanced mode is not the PlayStation mapping. Game actions and remapping options depend on the game. See Thrustmaster’s official support page and our Thrustmaster firmware notes.
